"Working together is how we kept the Ford plant open."

Really, Norm?  Is that what you think happened?  That you somehow had something to do with Ford delaying the plant closure?  Really?

Has there ever been a nastier campaign?  That one's the worst.

No doubt.  I think Norm's going to win, just because Al's got so much baggage (never knew he "body-slammed" a heckler).

I just didn't think either party would try to take credit for high gas prices... which is what really led to the plant staying open.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to vote for either of them.  I'm going to look into the Independent candidate and see what they're all about.  This is the first time that all of the negative advertising turned me away from either candidate.

unfortunately Dean Barkley said in the recent debate that he would have supported the bailout measure...

please make sure if you write me in to include the "the."

it should read "thestallion" (if you add "musicscene.org" as a parenthetical reference it won't hurt)...

I like Al's politics over Norm's, so I'm likely to throw a vote for him.  I just don't like the campaign.

Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer would've just about guaranteed a more substance-based campaign.

He also would've been crushed by reg'lar guy Normie since he's a Super Egghead.

This is the problem.  Parties think they need candidates with some sort of sizzle.  Candidates with true charisma (Obama, Reagan) are few and far between, so parties line up behind (often well-meaning) candidates with some sort of Q factor, whether or not they have what it takes to seal the deal.

I don't know much about Nahmy because I get too sidetracked being blinded by his nice new hospital-white porcelain veneers, and then I start focusing on how they don't match his bottom teeth... and how there's no gaps. It looks like he's getting ready to get in the boxing ring. That's a BIG pet peeve of mine. Porcelain veneers = the rich white man's equivalent to bad breast implants. Stop this insanity!!

I'm voting for Dean.

Franken is an a-hole, and Coleman is trying to out a-hole him.

I think it speaks volumes about Normy's inherent oiliness that Franken is currently leading the race by a convincing margin. Good intentions aside (and I do believe he harbors them), Al's possibly the single least electable candidate I can recall in any election.

Not sure what polls you're looking at.

Yeah, my bad. I happened to see a headline last week to that effect and took it at face value. Turns out there's plenty of question about that poll and a separate poll on the same day found almost the exact reverse.

Whatever, I haven't really been watching it that closely. I'll revise my original statement to say that it speaks to Norm's oiliness that Al's even still got a fighting chance.

PollDateSampleColeman (R)Franken (D)Barkley (I)Spread
RCP Average 09/14 - 10/02 -- 43.5 41.3 13.3 Coleman +2.2
Star Tribune 09/30 - 10/02 1084 LV 34 43 18 Franken +9
SurveyUSA 09/30 - 10/01 725 LV 43 33 19 Coleman +10

Funny how the Strib has Franken leading by almost the same margin SurveyUSA has Coleman leading.  It would be interesting to see how they collected their data.  Barkley has come along nicely, and if the attack ads Coleman and Franken are running continue, I'd imagine that he'll get even more support.

Barkley was polling only 3% last time I checked. Wow that is indeed a gain. I think after the debate on Saturday it will be a three way race! and Barkley without spending millions and millions in ads.!

I really don't want Coleman to return to the senate.........which means my vote will go to either Franken or Barkley......

I've always referred to him as Corn Holeman and always will... it's so fitting.

It's none of my business how you vote, but can I assume that you agree with Dean's political agenda & that's driving your decision more than the a-hole factor of Franken or Coleman?

I think its really impressive what kind of numbers Barkley has without ANY ads.  He has limited financials, so he's said in interviews that he'll ramp up a small ad campaign last minute to be as effective as possible.  It may not mean a thing, but Jesse's poll numbers at this point before the 98 governor's race weren't as high as Dean's are for this race.

No, its because of the signs our mommy's and daddy's had in the yard when we were kids.  Sleep
