My favorite is the ads talking about "Franken's pornography" as "disgusting."  I don't care if he likes porn, but if he's in it, then it is disgusting.

Still voting for Barkley, though.  Franken would be my fourth choice after the Green Party candidate.  I don't know who that is, but I really dislike Franken!

Norm is Mayor Quimby, sounds like him, acts like him

Big Smile hell yeah!

The campaign could get dirtier if Franken was low enough to bring up the fact that Colman's Pa likes doin' whores in pizza joint parking lots.....but he's not.

I wish he would bring this up that would be awesome!

"So, you say you like Norm Coleman?  What are you really saying?  You're saying you like the son of a whoremonger.  Yes, a whoremonger.  Norm's dad was caught with a whore in the back of his whoremobile.  Whore whore whore.  Norm Coleman sucks.  I'm Al Franken and I approve this message."

The most disgraceful ads aren't coming from the Franken camp but the DFL.  That one where they talk to the parents of a dead soldier is beyond reprehensible.  "Norm's gotta go."  Personally, I think doing far more harm than good.  If Coleman comes back with another dead soldier's family and plays the "Democrats wanted to surrender in Iraq" card, this will be the nastiest campaign in the history of the Earth.

G.G.:

That one where they talk to the parents of a dead soldier is beyond reprehensible.  "Norm's gotta go."

Really?  I just don't see that as "reprehensible".  If it were coming from some DFL representative, I'd agree... but from the parents I find it to be pretty honest.

I realize I'm biased due to my politics, but as I see the campaign Norm is attacking Al's character... Al's at least going after Norm's politics.  (He REALLY needs to get some new material instead of just linking him to GW Bush, though.)

Guile, I guess it depends on how it went down.  If the sad and understandably bitter parents went to the DFL saying, "we need to tell our story to the masses and let them know how horribly wrong this is", that's one thing.  If the DFL approached them and capitalized on their pain and frustration for political ends, I think you'd agree its f-d up.

Since I don't know how this shook out, I guess I'll have to reserve judgement...which sucks.

New MPR Humphrey poll has Franken ahead.

This poll's result are wildly different from MPR's previous results, so who knows what the hell to think?  But, all these recent polls showing a tightening plus Norm's developing wardrobe, Bahama-flying problems might prove the tipping point for a Franken win.

Coleman says he's pulling his negative ads

Part of me thinks this might be because he's finally listened to every Republican pundit that's said that an incumbent really shouldn't be engaging in this kind of campaigning when the polls are so close, and part of me thinks he's pulling the ads because of the ad that Franken put out yesterday that showed that some of the footage he's using in his "Angry Al" ads was from a warm and heartfelt story he told to a crowd about Paul Wellstone jogging with his son David, as David sat by his side.  Ultimate Douche Baggins.

i might be able to look past the bailout answer of Barkley, though it's a bit unsettling when Al Franken was the only one to state the obvious:

that we bailed out the rich and that we shouldn't have added pork barrel projects to a bill that is supposed to rescue us from disaster.  it should be able to stand on its own merits...i don't like Franken but he at least talks a mean game about being a good steward of public money (whether he's a lying sack is another question).

Barkley had some good things to say about killing the deficit and national debt.

So the media gives Obama more press coverage because he's more attractive.  That seems to be the concensus here amongst the lefties.  So why, oh why, does Franken bring his recently unearthed, John Lennon cadaver-esque wife into his ads now?

Earth to moonbats:  Its not helping.

Apparently Norm hasn't gotten the word to the Republican National Committee that he's pulling his negative campaign ads, because it doesn't really seem that the negative/positive ratio has changed one bit since this weekend.

The sad thing is, it took 2 glasses of wine to give me the guts to get my picture taken with him!  I'm glad I did though, it's hilar.

Because of an old Simpsons episode there's one word that always comes to mind when I see Norm.

Chowder.

So I just saw the Coleman ad where he let us all know that he's pulled his negative ads.  I'm reminded of something I often tell myself...

"If you tell everyone you're taking the high road, you're not taking the high road."
