I'll start this thread for Neil, since he didn't start Ronnie Brown this week.

EDIT: Then again, he prolly won't even need him to win this week, but still.

My wife set our line-up this week while I was out of town and played someone who was on IR.  Huh?

I have to retract my prior post - dude played, just didn't get us any points.  My wife actually did a kick-ass job with our roster.  We're 3-2, and had the most points for any team in our league with each of our 3 wins.

League A - 5-0

League B - 2-3 and I've scored the most total points.  Two weeks I lost to the "hot" player, and the third Big Ben got me negative points.

Haha, about three years ago one Sunday, Lisa was getting up to go home and I had the Steelers playoff game on and as she passed by the TV, she was like "Did he say Rockfistberger?" After recovering from the laughing fit, I explained that it was in fact, "Roethlisberger."

Ever since though, it's been Rockfistberger. How can that NOT stick?! Yes

Scenester-  don't be an idiot.  Fantasy football makes football more interesting to watch.  I'm in my second year of playing it, and I find that it makes me more interested in the other teams and not just my home team.  Furthermore, I don't see what that has to do with Dungeons and Dragons.  There are no dice, there is no imagination involved, it's just betting on stats.  So come on, if you need to establish some superiority complex you can do better.  If anything, try using the angle that it's like people who collect sports cards and obsess over stats and try to find a way to make jokes about that.  Maybe tie it in to comic book collectors somehow or something, I dunno.

I wish I had QBs like that to choose from.  My quarterback situation has been dire all season.  Just dumped Hasselback and picked up Campbell and Trent Edwards.  That's the best I got or could get.  Not big producers.

Ether:
Fantasy football makes football more interesting to watch

This is my first year in a league, and I certainly find myself paying more attention to stats.  At the same time, however, I have less of a sense this year of what team records are than I've ever had before, particularly when I was in a straight-up pick-'em league.  AND - worst of all - I have all kinds of players going against the Purple, so I find myself subconsciously rooting for them to have awesome games (although that didn't play out too well with Brees).  It's distracting from the actual game for me.

I'm still having fun doing it, and will probably do it again next year, but I can definitely see why people wouldn't be into it.

That's half the fun though, Josh. I love saying "I hope ___ _____ on the opposing team scores twice so I do well in Fantasy, yet the Vikings win the actual game by 3." Best of both worlds!

What really sucks is if you have good players on your fantasy team going up against your hometown/favorite team, but you also have your favorite team's defense. Then you're all sorts of conflicted. You need your fantasy guys to do good, but by definition, that screws you by having that defense cuz now they're less likely to get points.

But yeah, that's one of my main reasons to play fantasy - so I watch other games more intently. And I know what you mean about having less sense of what the records are, since players on teams getting blown out can still light up a fantasy scoreboard, especially in a yardage league.

Btw Ether, nothing wrong with Campbell at QB. He's put up good numbers this year. I'm starting him over Peyton this week, since the Skins are facing St Louie and their awful defense, and Peyton's facing Baltimore's kickace defense. This year I'm having to do weird shite like start Matt Forte over LaDanian Tomlinson and Jason freakin' Campbell over Peyton Manning.

I can see how people think Fantasy Foosball is for nerds though. Having anything with "fantasy" in the name is strike 1. Plus you don't really do anything but chose who'll play and who's on your team, so bragging about any one performance is silly, cuz you didn't do anything to prompt said performance; you just got lucky.

Before Fantasy, it'd be depressing when the Vikes lost. Now if I win in Fantasy yet the Vikes lose, I can say "at least I won in fantasy." Haha sounds stupid, but it works for this guy.
